Responsibility and Sustainability

During its time the BIC has earned an enviable reputation through its socially responsible activities and acknowledging it’s responsibilities to staff, stakeholders and the local community.

Our Commitment
Our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and programme is transparent and made available to all our stakeholders. To ensure we meet our commitments we have developed our Four Pillars of CSR:

1. Workforce
The BIC recognises that its prime asset is its staff. We are committed to providing equal opportunities to all existing and potential employees. We will ensure that staff are trained and developed to provide maximum job satisfaction and fulfilment that will, in turn, help to improve the performance of the business and client satisfaction.

2. Local Community
The BIC’s role within the local community is, and always has been, a priority to the managers and directors of the BIC. The BIC will continue to support worthwhile local projects by giving access to, and use of, available facilities. Also staff will be encouraged and given time to work with charities or disadvantaged groups in our community.

3. Environment and Energy
The environment is very important to us, and as such, we will promote solutions that minimise our impact on the environment, and strive to reduce energy consumption. The BIC will set targets each year to reduce its carbon emissions, lower its energy consumption, and increase its recycling through waste management initiatives. In addition, the BIC will work closely with its tenants to help them reduce waste and reduce their carbon footprint.

4. Marketplace
We recognise the need to further develop partnerships with all stakeholders, including our suppliers, clients and tenants. We will constantly strive to improve client and tenant satisfaction, and the ‘approved supplier’ list will be extended over the coming years to include companies and organisations who also demonstrate social responsibility.
