June 2010 - IN COVERSATION WITH...PAUL CALLAGHAN
In 1995, Sunderland born businessman Paul Callaghan moved his small software company, Leighton Internet, into its first home here at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC). Fast forward fifteen years and the Leighton Group is now a multi-million pound turnover business, trading in 40 countries on five continents, with 80 employees in Sunderland and additional offices in London and Canada.
Paul returned to the BIC to join us in this video report to discuss his business journey, as well as current issues facing SMEs and start ups in the North East region. Alongside Paul is David Howell, director of operations at the North East BIC, and young businessman Paul Hart, director of burgeoning creative firm Cargo, who will no doubt be eager for any pearls of wisdom after recently moving his company onto the same breeding ground that proved so fertile for Paul Callaghan all those years ago...
