Re-Take That

Local events and entertainment business i-Stage Group has welcomed outstanding reviews for their musical extravaganza City Life which entertained thousands of people at the opening of Sunderland International Airshow 2017.

Sunderland City Council commissioned the award-winning company, based at the North East BIC, to produce an energetic 90 minute set to celebrate 25 years since Sunderland was granted City status.

The production which was dedicated to local hero Bradley Lowery, was opened by Europe’s biggest Take That tribute band Re-Take That, followed by energetic performances from Steps, Robbie Williams and Spice Girl tributes. The second half of the show featured Britpop and dance hits from the nineties and had the enormous crowds singing and dancing into the night.

i-Stage also showcased local original artists He Knows She Knows, Geoff Mull and Will Jennison who performed on stage just hours after graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in Contemporary and Popular Music.

John Mowbray OBE, Co Chair of North East Culture Partnership was so impressed with the production that he even took to Twitter to congratulate i-Stage Group. He later commented: “City Life was absolutely sensational. A huge crowd were treated to an eclectic mix of music from the 90s when Sunderland became a city. The music, choreography and overall production was outstanding. Well done to i-Stage for bringing so much North East talent together and for executing such a polished production.”

i-Stage Director Paul Waite said: “We are overwhelmed with the feedback we have received since Friday night. We provide entertainment across the world but to be given this opportunity to showcase our services at this renowned event which takes place on our doorstep makes us very proud. Each and every person involved in the City Life production excelled themselves and we are all delighted with the rave reviews. Congratulations to Sunderland City Council once again for putting on a fantastic event and proving itself to be an event hosting city on a global scale.”
