New Enterprise Allowance Scheme
Are you considering self employment?
If you are over 18 and have been claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance for 26-weeks or more, and want to start your own business then the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) could be for you.

How it works:
You will be assigned a business mentor to help develop your business plan over an eight week period and continue to claim your jobseekers during this time.
Once your business plan is completed and approved and you decide to begin trading, you are then eligible for the New Enterprise Allowance:
• £65 per week for the first 13 weeks of trading
• £33 per week for a further 13 weeks
Your mentor will also provide ongoing support throughout the first six months of trading to ensure you get your business off to the right start.
Loan:
If you need access to start-up capital to get your business off the ground, you may be eligible for a £1,000 loan (subject to loan provider’s terms and conditions)
