Environmental Measurements manufactures a range of weather monitoring instrumentation including wind speed and wind direction sensors, aerodynamic rain gauges, temperature humidity probes, barometric pressure sensors, surface wetness probes, data loggers and automatic weather stations. The company was established in 1985 and moved to the BIC in 1996 where it currently employs 6 people. Approximately 40% of turnover comes from overseas markets, primarily in Europe and Scandinavia but also in North America and the Far East as well. Customers include weather centres, agricultural and horticultural organisations, hydrologists, universities, water companies and local authority environmental health departments. The company also supplies selected products to other UK and overseas eteorological instrumentation manufacturers who incorporate these ensors into their own product range. Environmental Measurements is also UK distributor for the Vaisala range of surface weather monitoring products. Vaisala, based in Finland, is the biggest manufacturer of meteorological instrumentation worldwide.
