Where are they now?…Fitness expert to launch new venture

19th August 2015

The North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) are currently taking a trip down memory lane a year later to revisit small businesses that we helped to start up.

Phillip Hancock, a local fitness instructor who has his own business, is now adding even more strings to his bow by starting up as a qualified personal trainer.

Phill, who originally came to the BIC to set up Sunderland Metafit, has recently undertaken a personal training qualification. He currently teaches kettlebells, boxercise and metafit in local community centres and is heavily involved with local schools.

Phill said: “After I took a redundancy I originally visited the BIC and was up and running with my fitness business in no time. I briefly trained to be a teacher, but my heart lay in coaching and guiding, which is when I established Sunderland Metafit.”

“I then felt that there was a great need in our local area for exercise and nutritional advice, and as I am committed to a personal touch, I am now in the process of developing PT2U.”

PT2U is a personal training service that offers a full holistic package on nutrition and fitness to his clients.

Phill has already set the wheels in motion by establishing a Facebook page, where he offers clean eating advice and guidance.

“It’s all really exciting,” Phill added, “As well as my personal training venture I am also looking to continue with a local project called The Fitness Games 2, which is a great event and has the potential to be really huge. If you’re a fitness fanatic then you won’t want to miss this.”

Janice Marsh , business adviser at the North East BIC said: “It’s fantastic to see Phill doing so well in his business and I am so pleased he is expanding. He’s a very dynamic individual and deserves to be really successful.”
