Presentation SkillsPresentation Skills

This workshop is intended to train you to be a confident presenter. To begin with we’ll cover everything you should be thinking about before you get anywhere near a stage. This is an introduction to storytelling with a focus on easy to use techniques and structures that are applicable to presentation. We also discuss preparation techniques, such as defining your message, ‘knowing your audience’ and storyboarding.

In the afternoon we’ll look as what you should be doing on stage. This session covers body language, vocal use, and emotional projection. Our focus here is giving presenters not just techniques but an understanding of why those techniques are effective. We are looking to teach you how to create positive emotional responses in your audience. It’s this which allows your content to be received. We encourage a no rules approach, where no behaviour is incorrect, but presenters should recognise the effect their actions have and know how to use that to their advantage. This session includes a “have a go element” where participants deliver a 1 minute long micro-presentation.
