Date announced for North East Innovation Conference

VentureFest North EastThe region’s innovation conference is set to return to St James’ Park for 2018, shining a spotlight on the North East businesses who are changing the face of industry with innovative products and services.

Taking place on Wednesday 14 November, VentureFest North East offers a dynamic programme of hands-on workshops and discussions, which give businesses practical and actionable content, and a range of innovation tools to maximise business outputs.

The region’s annual innovation conference will also connect growing businesses with funding solutions through FinanceCamp at VentureFest, highlight the brightest talent in a range of sectors with the Innovation Showcase and inspire delegates with high-profile key note speakers who are at the forefront of innovation in their fields.

VentureFest North East continues to grow, year on year, underlining the fact that innovation remains a priority for UK economic growth as part of the Government’s Industrial Strategy. Simon Green, Chief Executive of the Innovation SuperNetwork who deliver the event, said: “Though well-placed to tackle the adoption of innovation, attending VentureFest North East in 2018 is even more critical for regional businesses as they face an increasingly complex and changing global marketplace. The event is a not to be missed opportunity to hear the latest strategic thinking, access innovation tools, and think, in a creative and collaborative setting, about the challenges enterprise of all sizes and from all sectors face.”

More than 700 businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators are expected to attend, not only making the most of the varied and fast-paced programme of activity but connecting directly with businesses across a range of commercial prospects. Providing the chance to respond to real problems posed by organisations, live Innovation Challenges at VentureFest North East also give businesses the opportunity to win contracts.

Professor Louise Bracken, Scientific Director at The Water Hub, said: “Taking part in the live Innovation Challenge at VentureFest North East in 2017 was a fantastic opportunity for The Water Hub to connect with a variety of businesses. To be able to present the challenges we all face to ensure we take a more forward-thinking and sustainable approach to managing our water needs to a group of engaged, creative and innovative businesses has created connections we otherwise wouldn’t have made and has allowed us to progress both an infrastructure project and a communications initiative.”
