Hot lines open for regional contest

One of the region’s most prominent sectors is set to be celebrated once again, after announcing that entries are now open for its annual awards event.

The Winners

Organisers of The North East Contact Centre Awards have confirmed that the event – which attracts some of the region’s biggest and best contact centres – will this year be held on Friday, November 18 2016.

The annual celebration event, which is organised by Sunderland Live on behalf of Sunderland City Council, attracts around 500 people and will be held once again at Ramside Hall Hotel.

Councillor Paul Watson, leader of Sunderland City Council, said that they expected to receive a large volume of entries from businesses right across the North East.

He said: “The North East really is a shining light for the contact centre industry.  It is a sector that is worth more than £200million to Sunderland’s economy alone and one that creates thousands of jobs.

“The North East Contact Centre Awards are always a fantastic celebration of the sector and all that it brings to this part of the world.  And they’re hotly-contested, because the level of talent that exists in the region is so high.

“We expect to receive a large number of entries again.  Every year it becomes more and more difficult to pick a winner in each category and we are sure this year will be no exception.”

Last year saw Sunderland-based Fusion scoop the overall ‘over 250-seats’ Crowning Glory award, and Newcastle-based Home Group win the same overall award for the under 250-seats category.

Mark Brannen, head of site at Fusion Contact Centre, said: “The North East Contact Centre Awards are a great platform that allows employers to showcase the dedication and hard work of their employees. For us, to come out on top last year was a real honour.

“We look forward to entering the awards once again this year, in what we expect to be a highly competitive field, full of talent.”
