Love is in the air in Sunderland

As February 14 fast approaches, couples are set to descend on the city’s shops to pick up their romantic presents.  To make things a bit easier, we have assembled our top ten gift ideas to surprise that special someone.

  1. Heart Making Glass – National Glass Centre

The National Glass centre has a special treat in store for the more creative couples.  Loved up Sunderland twosomes can enjoy a glassmaking experience, as well as making a unique gift for Valentine’s Day.  Guided by experienced glass makers, couples can create a Valentine’s Day heart out of molten glass and take it home, as a reminder of the day they melted each other’s heart.

For soul sisters (and brothers!) how about booking up to enjoy an evening of live entertainment from global sensation Beyonce. Queen Bey will take to the stage on June 28 as she opens up the European leg of her Formation World Tour in Sunderland. It’s the first time in more than five years that Beyonce has been in the North East, as is expected to be ‘the biggest concert ever’ to be held at the Stadium of Light.

For a gift that keeps on giving, how about supporting a local community theatre company that aims to raise much needed funds for Help for Heroes.  Sunderland’s longest established amateur theatre group, the Sunderland Theatre Company is taking to the stage at Sunderland College to perform Sunshine on Leith, which charts the lives of two former military men returning to Civvy Street.
