Food and a tale of two dogs at the Stadium of Light

SnowdogsVisitors to the North East can see two of the pack of Great North Snowdogs while also taking advantage of some special offer dining.

This week is Sunderland Restaurant Week, with the Karbon Grill at the city’s Hilton Garden Inn promoting a range of special offers.

And that means that anyone visiting the Stadium of Light to see their two Great North Snowdogs will also be able to make a pit stop at the top restaurant.

Karbon Grill has put together a menu which offers two courses for £10 and three courses for £15 – the perfect solution for hungry snowdog hunters.

Diners can enjoy starters which include buffalo wings and Karbon meatballs, with main course choices such as the signature Karbon burger, char grilled pork chop or sustainable fish and chips.

Dessert options include chocolate brownie and red velvet cake, with the additional option of coffee and cake for £5.

The Stadium of Light has given shelter to two of the Great North Snowdogs, part of a trail of 61 dogs around Tyne and Wear, which have each been individually decorated and will raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.

Visitors can see Wonderhound and SAFC Spraydog when they visit the stadium, as well as take part in additional trail where anyone who spots the black cats around the ground can be in line for an additional prize.

Visitors to the hotel and restaurant can pick up a map and look for the hidden cats, with completed forms then entered into a prize draw for a part-season card for a family of four and a mascot place for one youngster for Sunderland’s match against Liverpool at the Stadium of Light.

“Sunderland Restaurant Week is a great opportunity for anyone visiting the snowdogs to take advantage of some fantastic dining offers,” said Kim Kelso, General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland.

“Families can come and enjoy the snowdogs, have some fun on the Black Cat trail and then eat at the Karbon Grill.”

The Great North Snowdogs trail has been created by Newcastle’s St Oswald’s Hospice, which cares for young people from across the region and art’s organisation, Wild in Art.

A specially devised app which can be downloaded from the app store will also feature a range of special offers for the Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland and the Karbon Grill restaurant alongside the SAFC club store.
