Welcome back to the BIC – but not as you knew it

Heading back to the BIC? There are a few nice surprises in store to help keep that work/life balance in check. Centre Manager Donna Surtees explains.

We can’t wait to welcome tenants and clients back to a Covid-secure site this spring as we all begin to take steps back to some semblance of normality.

But here at the BIC, we want a return to normal to mean something other than simply going back to the way we were pre-pandemic.

Emphasis on wellbeing

Lockdown has certainly given us all a new appreciation of the importance of wellbeing and a successful work/life balance. Many of us have found ways to build exercise and time outdoors into our working day as a way to stay focused, productive, healthy and happy.

We want to help everyone to continue building on these good habits as they return to work. So, we’re busy making improvements to outdoor areas to help you make simple changes to your daily life to support your health and wellbeing.

New outdoor spaces

We’re creating places to eat, meet and maybe even enjoy an episode of your favourite podcast during your lunchbreak. A new terraced area will provide an alternative outdoor spot for your morning coffee, to make a few calls or even a breakout area for informal meetings.

We’re investing in outdoor furniture in a number of areas around the site and all tenants and clients are welcome to use these facilities.

By creating these pleasant outdoor spaces, we hope we’ll all make the most of our fabulous riverside location – especially as we go into the warmer months when we can enjoy a seat or a stroll in the sun along the embankment.

Investment in the environment

Our spot by the river is a constant reminder of the importance of our natural environment and our duty to protect it.

The changes we’re making are carefully considered and support the creation of new wildlife habitats, like our lovely Pollinator Park, the planting of trees and the creation of new planters, tubs and bird boxes that have been handmade by BIC staff. The furniture we’ve selected is all made from recycled plastics too.

New energy for a new era

We know times are tough for many businesses and we’re committed to doing everything we can to support you and your teams. Please talk to us if you’d like to discuss ways we can help your business adapt to changing circumstances.

Though it’s certainly brought its challenges, the pandemic has created opportunities too.

A new generation of businesses are joining the BIC this spring, bringing new diversity and energy to the park. We’re looking forward to welcoming them to our friendly community and to finding lots of ways to come together with you all again – safely of course!
