A Mentor in Brussels

One of the things I adore about my role here at the BIC is the variety each day brings and last week was no exception as I headed for the Euro star to make my way to Brussels for a conference.

Having made the journey numerous times before I found myself slightly apprehensive; will I have to eat alone? Will my travel plans run smoothly?

However I then thought about Charlotte Angus, who is currently on an exchange with a company in Italy. Working abroad all alone, from reading her blog I know she is having a wonderful time and learning so much in the process. Not to forget Marcos Antelo, a Spaniard who moved to Edinburgh and was so successful within the company he worked for had his contract extended for another month.

We all get content in our day to day roles but the key to keep moving forward and improving ourselves is to step out of our comfort zones.

So embrace the unknown, take the road less travelled for you never know where it may lead…

P.S and in the end I needn’t of worried for I never had one meal alone, I met some wonderful companions from several countries and during my stay I enjoyed good food and conversation.
