An alliance aimed at supporting GPs is the latest tenant to join the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC).
Sunderland GP Alliance is a membership body for 40 GP practices, aiming to support GPs to deliver more effective services, and to operate collaboratively and at scale. The Alliance moved to the BIC after viewing the property available on the 14 acre site. Chief executive, Jon Twelves, commented:
“The BIC was an attractive location to us. The easy in easy out terms are vital for a start-up business, and the on-site support and help available was very attractive. The rates were also competitive in comparison to the other facilities we viewed.
“We have an ambition to grow and develop and the BIC seems like the perfect environment.”
Jon, a chartered accountant by trade, also has many years’ experience in senior management, added:
“General practice, in common with the rest of the NHS, is coming under increasing financial pressure, and GPs are facing ever expanding workloads. We are seeing the establishment of federations of GP practices across the country in response, and the Alliance, with its members’ wealth of health knowledge and experience, its directors’ drive and vision and my complimentary commercial skills is in an ideal position to develop that response and progress primary care within the city.
The BIC offers a variety of space
Sunderland GP Alliance has also been working with Pulse Creative Marketing, another business based at the BIC, to help provide a range of marketing materials. Pulse are also providing ongoing support with the development of the website.
