Cheer on England in Sunderland

FOOTBALL FANS wanting company to cheer the England team on to victory are being invited to Sunderland’s Sports Fanzone.

When the home squad face Wales tomorrow (Thurs June 16) the match will be screened live on the giant 20 metre-high screen at Park Lane – with a range of special offers in local bars and restaurants and competitions.

The Fanzone will open from 10am, giving supporters plenty of time to get in the mood before kick off at 2pm.

Since it opened last week, the Fanzone – which has been created by Sunderland BID in conjunction with bars in the area – has proven extremely popular and it’s anticipated that Thursday’s game will attract crowds.

“This is definitely one of the games that everyone will want to see,” said Ken Dunbar, Chief Executive of Sunderland BID.

“And what better way to watch it than for free on a giant screen and with lots of great food and drink offers available from the bars and restaurants near by.”

The Fanzone is screening all the Euro 2016 matches along with F1, Ascot, Wimbledon, cricket and athletics.

And music fans will also get in the action with plans to showcase highlights from festivals such as Glastonbury.
