Rebecca Dawson and Erica Turner, Commercial Property team at Jacksons Law

North East law firm Jacksons, continues its recruitment drive following the appointment of Associate Solicitor, Rebecca Dawson.

Rebecca has returned to Jacksons following four years at a Newcastle based firm.   She is familiar with the Commercial Property team at Jacksons having spent two years working in the department from 2015 until 2017. Rebecca has extensive experience of dealing with all types of commercial property transactions but her particular interest is in development and regeneration, planning and construction.

Rebecca,  who lives in Otterburn,  graduated from Northumbria University with a BSc (Hons) in Building Management and went on to complete her RICS exams in building surveying.  She later qualified as a solicitor in 2003 with a prominent Newcastle law firm where she spent four years in the commercial property team before moving to an in-house legal role for North East developer, Argon Properties.

Rebecca said, “Everyone at Jacksons has made me really welcome and it almost feels like I have never been away.  Most of the commercial property team I worked with before are still here and that in itself speaks volumes about the type of firm Jacksons is.  The partnership is a forward-thinking one which supports its staff in developing their career, with opportunities for everyone.   It’s great to be working with a good mix of clients from a wide range of sectors, the department is really busy, the work is very interesting and challenging, just how I like it.”

Partner and Head of Commercial Property, Erica Turner said, “We are delighted to have Rebecca working in the team again.  She is an exceptionally talented lawyer and cares passionately about her clients.  As a result of continued investment and confidence in the North East region, the commercial property team at Jacksons has seen work levels increase significantly over the last 18 months particularly in relation to development and construction related matters.  Rebecca returns to the firm at an exciting time for both the region and the firm and her expertise means that we are in a position to provide further specialist advice to our development clients in particular which a number of other firms seek to outsource.  Rebecca’s experience and reputation enhances our ability to provide specialist advice in all commercial property related matters.”

Jacksons’ Commercial Property team has gained a number of awards during the past few years in recognition of its contribution to the property sector.  It is the only Tees Valley practice to have been a finalist, two years running in the Northern Law Awards; Team of the Year Property (Commercial) and to have won this award in 2017 and 2019.  In 2019 the team was awarded Property Law Firm of the Year in the North East Insider Property Awards and won this year’s Property Law Firm of the Year and finalists for Property Deal of the Year for the work that we have done on The Northern School of Art in Middlesbrough.

Jacksons Law firm is one of the North East’s longest established law firms and has been practising in the Tees Valley for over 140 years.  Operating from its head office in Stockton on Tees, and an office in Newcastle upon Tyne and office space in the Business Innovation Centre in Sunderland, it is well placed to assist clients across the region on a wide range of business and personal legal advice.
