Digital Voice for Communities wins Award

Julie Nicholson receiving her Award

The Digital Voice team are basking in the glow of success after winning the Social Innovation Award at the North East Innovation Awards this week.

Julie Nicholson, Digital Voice managing director said:

“I’m so proud to work with a team of innovators who have worked so hard, particularly over the last two years, to continue reaching those people who are digitally excluded. This award is for all of us!

“We’re delighted to have been nominated by Anne Fry, Deputy CEO of VONNE for this prestigious award. It means such a lot to us that our team of digital media experts was recognised for the innovations we have developed recently; innovations which help marginalised people who often don’t have a voice, to be empowered to speak out in new ways.”

Julie also added,

“We’d also like to thank Steve Key, Innovation Lead from Believe Housing who sponsored the award and the rest of the judging panel. Steve was struck by the impact our work has, and how we manage to help people in such innovative ways.”

Steve Key said,

‘‘Digital Voice for Communities have tackled a real problem prevalent in society with innovative solutions that teach vulnerable and excluded people new skills, putting them at the centre of their story and having fun along the way. We were very impressed with the suite of options available that enable bespoke projects to be built, depending on the needs of the individual or community involved”

The awards took place in Newcastle on 30 March as part of the leading innovation conference, VentureFest North East.
