North East Law Firm, Jacksons is delighted to announce that its commercial property team has again been awarded Property Law Firm of the Year by the judges at Insider’s North East Property Awards 2021.

The team was shortlisted earlier this year after submitting its nomination to Insider Media. The award was received by the team at a glamorous dinner hosted at the Hilton Hotel, Newcastle, Gateshead to celebrate the work being done in the region by developers, surveyors, law firms and property companies.

Led by Erica Turner, the commercial property team was involved in some of the region’s most significant redevelopment plans in and around Tees Valley over the last year including work for PD Teesport, sale of land for energy from waste purposes on behalf of Scott Bros and the construction and relocation of the Northern School of Art. The judges were particularly impressed with the firm’s introduction of a new electronic identification system, an excellent resource implemented as a result of the Covid pandemic.

Erica Turner, Partner and Head of Commercial Property said, “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award again after what has been a challenging 18 months. I am extremely proud of the way in which the commercial property team has excelled in handling time sensitive, significant and complex transactions notwithstanding that the team has worked remotely for a considerable period. Each team member has contributed individually to the success of the team as a whole and I hope that this award goes some way to acknowledging their efforts. The commercial property market has been exceptionally buoyant during the last few years, and in particular during the pandemic. It is a really exciting time to work in the sector with so many great projects developing right here on our doorstep in the North East.”

The Northern School of Art, the only specialist art and design college in the north of England, was shortlisted in the Property Deal of the Year category. Partner, Nicola Neilson, was instructed to act on behalf of the college in their acquisition of the site. The winning deal was awarded to the Acquisition of Sir John Fitzgerald Group by Ladhar Group.

The commercial property team is no stranger to winning awards having won Team of the Year Property (Commercial) in The Northern Law Awards in 2017 and 2019 and Property Law Firm of the Year in the North East Insider Property Awards in 2019.

Tony Wentworth Managing Partner said, “I am enormously proud of Erica and her team. The award is fitting recognition of the excellence and hard work of the entire team throughout what has been a very challenging year. Erica continues to overcome the many hurdles of managing and supporting a team with 40 miles between them.”

Jacksons Law firm is one of the North East’s longest established law firms and has been practising in the Tees Valley for over 140 years. Operating from its head office in Stockton on Tees, and an office in Newcastle upon Tyne, it is well placed to assist clients across the region on a wide range of business and personal legal advice.
