New wear crossing road closures

Works will start again on Wessington Way on Sunday 14th February and also on Timber Beach Road / Hylton Park Road on Wednesday 17th February.

Wessington Way will be down to one lane in each direction from Sunday 14th February. This is the start of the main phase of work. Although there will be a change of phase in a couple of weeks where the traffic management system is changed round, it is fairly straightforward to say that Wessington Way will be down to one lane each way for most of the year as previously indicated.

From Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th February there will be temporary traffic lights on the main section of Timber Beach Road reducing it to one lane of traffic only. The traffic lights system can and will be monitored and adjusted to account for traffic flows and peaks in any particular direction.

The main stretch of Timber Beach Road/Hylton Park Road between the DW Fitness car park until just past the entrance to the RTC car park will be closed completely on Saturday 20th and Sunderland 21st February. There will be no through route during this time. The route will be fully open for Monday morning of 22nd February.

There will also be signage in place to warn and direct people as appropriate.
