Sector’s ‘Oscars’ sees wave of entries

Entries are flooding in from the cream of the contact centre industry, as the countdown to the sector’s “Oscars” begins.

The North East Contact Centre Awards has attracted entries from some of the biggest and best contact centres that call the region home.

The event, which will once again take place at Ramside Hall, Durham, will this year be held on Friday, November 18.

The annual celebration event, which is organised by Sunderland Live and supported by Sunderland City Council, attracts around 500 people every year.

Alison McDonough, Chief Executive of Sunderland Live, said she was delighted to see a great response to the initial call for entries.

She said: “We have some fantastic businesses in the North East and some exemplars of the contact centre world, so it is no surprise to see that so many entries have been submitted already.

“The NECCA’s are always hotly contested and this year the standards are as high as ever. The North East has a strong service sector and all of our contact centres work incredibly hard to drive up standards – this is evident by the entries we receive year on year. The judges will have a hard time picking out the winners.”

Last year saw Sunderland-based Fusion scoop the overall ‘over 250-seats’ Crowning Glory award, and Newcastle-based Home Group with the same overall award for the under 250-seats category.

Leanne Chambers, head of resource solutions at event sponsor NRG, said: “We have long been a supporter of the North East Contact Centre Awards and each year, we see that the standard of entries is going up and up.

“Contact centres are a key industry for the North East, creating and sustaining a huge number of jobs. It’s fantastic to support an event that showcases a great industry that is thriving in our region and helping to support our economy. I wish all of the entrants the very best of luck and can’t wait to celebrate with all of the entrants, businesses and sponsors in November.”
