About the North East BIC

North East BIC is a social enterprise with a clear and meaningful purpose: to help businesses start, grow and thrive. We provide high quality workspace alongside tailored business support, and we take real pride in the communities we create across our business centres.

Our spaces are staffed by friendly, caring people who genuinely want to see the businesses around them succeed – and we work hard to make that happen through one-to-one support, collaborative events, networking opportunities and a culture where everyone feels welcome.

We also work closely with partners, stakeholders and the wider business support ecosystem to make sure our tenants can access every opportunity available to them. As when our tenants grow, create jobs and innovate, the whole region benefits.

North East BIC is entering an exciting new phase, following our recent appointment to operate three of Sunderland Council’s business centres. As part of this, we are developing a refreshed and creative approach to marketing, communications and engagement to clearly position each centre, strengthen their identity and showcase the businesses within them. The Marketing Coordinator will play a central role in bringing this vision to life, supporting promotion, engagement and storytelling across the centres.

The Role

This is a hands-on, varied and creative role for someone who loves storytelling, enjoys building communities and gets excited by the opportunity to shape something new.

As Marketing Coordinator, you will play a central part in how these new business centres are showcased, promoted and experienced by the ambitious businesses based within them. From digital content and social media to community events and eye catching campaigns, you will have room to experiment, grow and make your mark.

You will design and deliver events that bring tenants together, encourage collaboration and create a genuine sense of place – from informal coffee meet ups and networking sessions through to themed business workshops and skills events. You will help make our centres feel connected, energetic and inspiring.

If you love variety, creativity and the buzz of launching something new, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your ideas will genuinely shape the future of these centres and the businesses within them.

Key responsibilities

Create campaigns that capture attention

  • Produce engaging content for websites, social media channels and email newsletters that reflects the vibrancy and ambition of our centres.
  • Help develop creative campaigns that drive enquiries and support occupancy growth.
  • Experiment with new formats – from short videos and reels to tenant spotlights and success stories – to showcase what makes these business centres special.
  • Ensure all communications follow brand guidelines, approval processes and data protection requirements, maintaining accurate records for all campaign activity.

Elevate our digital presence

  • Keep website content fresh, accurate and optimised for search, ensuring each centre is represented in the best possible light.
  • Manage social media scheduling and bring imaginative, consistent content ideas to the table.
  • Support the testing of paid advertising and new digital approaches, helping to identify what resonates with our audiences.

Help build a connected, vibrant business community

  • Plan and coordinate a programme of engaging community events – from informal meet ups and networking to business skills sessions and themed workshops.
  • Support the delivery of tenant activities that strengthen collaboration and create a welcoming, energetic atmosphere across our centres.
  • Capture and share tenant success stories to build pride, connection and a sense of shared community.
  • Help maintain regular tenant communications including newsletters, directories, noticeboards and updates.

Be part of launching something new

  • Play a key role in the mobilisation of our new centres, from auditing existing materials through to supporting launch activity and events.
  • Help create visually engaging assets including photography, short videos and marketing collateral that bring each centre’s identity to life.
  • Support PR efforts including press content and coordinating releases with relevant contacts.

Turn insights into action

  • Collect and interpret data from social media, websites, email platforms and CRM tools to understand what is working and where to focus effort.
  • Help maintain performance dashboards that track enquiries, engagement and campaign effectiveness.
  • Share insights with the wider team to help refine strategies and keep activity focused on what delivers results.
  • Support reporting on enquiries, conversions and tenant satisfaction, upholding BIC’s quality standards across all marketing activity.

Collaborate with colleagues and partners

  • Work closely with marketing, centre operations and business support teams to ensure joined up, consistent activity.
  • Liaise with Sunderland City Council on branding, approvals and communications.
  • Liaise with Sunderland City Council Business Investment Team on promoting the wider business and premises offer
  • Coordinate with copywriters, designers, photographers, videographers and other suppliers to deliver high quality, on brand outputs.
