BIC-based environmental remediation firm celebrates 20 years
An environmental remediation company whose North of England office is based at the North East BIC has celebrated 20 years of growth and success.
ATG Group – whose specialist services have been used on a range of construction projects in the region – started life in its founder’s garage in 2006.
Almost 90 people joined the celebrations to mark the anniversary with special guests . These included volunteers and service users of its sister charity Ashes to Gold, which it launched over 10 years ago.
ATG Group, whose expertise has been used on a number of regional projects such as Northern Spire bridge and SSTC3 transport corridor, donates 10% of its profits to the charity that helps people overcome a range of life issues.
Founder and Managing Director Dr Mark McKinney said the event near its Northern Ireland head office was a celebration of all that ATG Group and Ashes to Gold had achieved.
He said: “It was a real honour to welcome so many people who have been a crucial part of ATG Group’s journey.
“When I launched the company, I wanted it to be a leader in using science and innovation to restore damaged land and solve environmental problems.
“Since then, we have worked with local authorities, government bodies, developers, infrastructure providers, insurers and major international organisations.
“We have helped regenerate land, manage environmental risk, support sustainable development and protect communities.
“We have grown from a handful of people into a multidisciplinary organisation employing highly skilled scientists, engineers, consultants and support staff across the UK.”
As well as its Sunderland base, ATG Group operates across England with regional bases in the North West, Midlands and South East. It also operates in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Its expertise has also been used by companies such as Lidl on sites in eastern Europe.
