Sunderland marketing agency dodio is celebrating 10 years in business and 10 years proudly based at the North East BIC, where their story first began.
Founded by Chris and Senga Kean, dodio has grown from a mad idea into a thriving agency with clients from Hendon to Honolulu. And fittingly, the roots run even deeper at the BIC – all three directors, including newly promoted Jameson Lai, are former BIC staff.
“People say this sort of thing a lot, but we genuinely wouldn’t be where we are without the BIC, in fact, we’d have never even met” said Chris. “The values and skills learnt as BIC staff and the support available afterwards as a start up gave us the perfect launchpad for the agency. The BIC is a special place for all three of us and has remained our home since day one.”
The agency celebrated the milestone with an event at Sunderland’s Sheepfolds Stables and the announcement of Jameson stepping up as co-director. “It’s an honour,” said Jameson. “We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together, and even more excited about what’s next.”
Over the last decade, dodio has helped hundreds of businesses with branding, websites and strategy – partnering with the NHS, Sunderland City Council and many more local businesses like Richard Reed Solicitors and Edmundson Electrical.
The team has also supported charities and community groups across the region, including Grace House, St Cuthbert’s Hospice and the RSPCA – giving back through pro bono work, fundraising and even a spot of “strictly” style dancing.
Senga summed it up: “We’re Sunderland-based and proud, and we’ll always have a soft spot for the BIC. It’s where it all started, where we’re still growing today and the home of dodio.”
