International success sees manufacturer grow
A LEADING manufacturer of fire safety products is expanding its presence in the North East after landing a global distribution deal.
Vox Ignis, which makes alarm and telephone systems for the fire and safety industries, has agreed a lease on a second unit at the North East BIC in Sunderland.
The move follows the recent announcement that the firm has agreed a landmark distribution deal with global engineering giant Bosch.
The deal, which gives Bosch exclusivity over the distribution of its products in the Asia-Pacific market, will see the company expand its footprint in some of the world’s most populous regions.
Anthony Smith, managing director of Vox Ignis, said: “We are thrilled to be expanding our presence in the North East with a new facility at the BIC.
“The business has grown significantly over the past 12 months and this investment, which will almost double our footprint in the region, will give us the capacity required to continue building on this as we look to the future.
“It will also provide us with the space required to continue creating jobs and invest in new machinery, both of which we are keen to progress over the coming years as we look to continue building on this success.”
The new facility will see Vox Ignis almost double its footprint at the BIC, providing the company with a combined 3956 sq ft of office, manufacturing and warehousing space.
“We’ve been running at near capacity for the past 12 months now and with new products soon to hit the market and the deal with Bosch now agreed, we knew we would have to invest in order to continue growing,” he added.
“We’ve been at the BIC now for 9.5 years and have moved three times to new premises in that period, so as soon as we heard that they had the space to accommodate our expansion, moving anywhere else was completely off the cards.
“We haven’t once had to pause production, we’ve been able to move at a time and pace that has suited us as a business and it’s allowed us to keep our entire operation together, it’ll be a real positive for everyone associated with the company.”
