Sunderland-based commercial interiors and office fit-out specialist Nurture Workspace has officially knocked through the walls of its headquarters at the North East BIC to launch a brand-new interactive client showroom.

The expansion sees the company merge Unit 12 with the adjacent Unit 13, marking a major milestone in the firm’s 12-year history. It provides a dedicated space where regional businesses can experience their ideal office environment before committing to a project.

Founded in 2015 by Michael White, the business originally launched as a specialist provider of ergonomic office seating and musculoskeletal workspace setups. Over the last decade, it has grown from a modest top-floor incubator unit into a one-stop-shop for commercial interiors and office renovations.

Following the expansion, the company now trades as Nurture Workspace by Posture Team, reflecting its evolution as a provider of complete end-to-end office transformations, including structural partitioning, advanced acoustic solutions, flooring, electrical works, and bespoke furniture installation.

The newly completed showroom has been designed to move away from traditional product catalogues, allowing businesses to experience workspace design firsthand rather than simply viewing products on a page.

Michael White, Managing Director of Nurture Workspace, said: “Having the new showroom has allowed us to offer so much more to our clients. You can sit in front of customers with brochures, but that’s not what they want or need. They need to see how the furniture fits, test the ergonomics, and feel the fabrics and finishes for themselves.

“Our business is all about bringing earthy, homely, and collaborative elements back into corporate interiors to make people feel comfortable at work. Having this space to showcase 2D and 3D walkthrough layouts changes the dynamic entirely.”

Michael added: “The BIC has been fundamental to our journey. From giving us our first contracts, to providing the flexibility to downsize during the pandemic and then scale back up again, they have supported our growth every step of the way. When I told them I wanted to knock through into the next unit to build a showroom it wasn’t an issue, they helped us make it happen.”

The BIC has long championed flexible workspaces that allow modern businesses to scale naturally without the risk of rigid commercial leases.

Doreen Howard, Centre Manager at the North East BIC, said: “Michael’s journey is a brilliant example of why the BIC exists. Business growth is rarely a straight line, but having the freedom to scale his space up and down over the last 12 years, he has built a resilient and thriving business. The new showroom looks incredible, and it’s a well-deserved milestone for the Nurture Workspace. We can’t wait to see what they do next.”

Nurture Workspace serves business-to-business clients across the North East and throughout the UK, delivering tailored workspace solutions for organisations ranging from manufacturers and IT service providers to regional schools and NHS environments.
