Sunderland’s first online male health platform launches to redefine men’s wellness

Healthcare startup, The Male Health Club, becomes the first online business of its kind in Sunderland helping to redefine male vitality across the UK.

Following more than three years of intensive development The Male Health Club is an online subscription-based clinic designed to help men transform how they approach hormonal decline, physical fitness, and long term wellness.

Spearheaded by veteran health clinician Beverley Ashton with over 20 years experience working within hormone health and patient care, her inspiration for the business came after identifying a severe disparity in medical support tailored to men.

While resources for female hormone changes have expanded significantly over the past few years, male hormonal health has historically been neglected. This neglect leads to a stark reality: one in five men will die before the age of 65, largely due to men being historically reluctant to seek medical intervention until their health has deteriorated.

Beverley Ashton, Founder of The Male Health Club, said: “Too many younger men are going online to order cheap testosterone from unverified overseas laboratories, using basic automated AI platforms to manage their results and titrate their own doses. This is an incredibly dangerous gamble. Without proper clinical oversight, self-medicating can cause permanent damage, including halting natural fertility and causing critical spikes in red blood cell count and iron levels. AI cannot replace a real human clinician who understands the complete, individual picture of a patient’s health.”

The Male Health Club provides an all-inclusive digital subscription care model, operating a unique clinical philosophy that allows patients to receive continuous human clinical review, tailored prescriptions, and lifestyle coaching. The clinic practices ethically, pushing for natural adjustments to diet, exercise and lifestyle before relying on medical prescriptions.

By utilising a virtual office tenancy at the North East BIC, the clinic is determined to deliver on its holistic vision having teamed up with her son Richard Ashton, leveraging his extensive background in professional physical training and coaching. The mother-son team have built a comprehensive web-based app that goes beyond medical prescriptions, supporting men to develop lifelong health skills.

Paul McEldon OBE, Chief Executive of the North East BIC, said: “Beverley’s business is a brilliant example of how modern virtual tenancies can empower North East entrepreneurs to launch services with a national reach. Our virtual office at the BIC enables pioneering startups to focus their resources directly on clinical innovation, compliance and patient care. We are incredibly proud to support The Male Health Club as it addresses such an important area of healthcare from right here in Sunderland.”
