A team of workspace design experts are celebrating their tenth anniversary in style with a bold new look and even bolder ambitions for the future.

Nurture Workspace, which counts Siemens, Mammoet, and the NHS among its portfolio of clients, plans to increase its turnover to over £500,000 this financial year.

The company reported a record year in 2024-2025, working on high profile projects for clients across the UK from its head office in Sunderland.

Formerly trading as Posture Team, the company has recently rebranded to Nurture Workspace to reflect this growth and as part of the process has also launched a new brand identity and website in partnership with North East creative agency, dodio.

Having originally specialised in the supply of ergonomic chairs, the company has expanded to provide full-service workspace design and the brand refresh aligns with the company’s diversification and future expansion plans.

This includes working more closely on projects with architects and interior designers to conduct site surveys, space appraisals, design schemes, 3D visuals and even 3D walk-throughs of their designs.

“We thought Posture Team needed to move on after ten years and better reflect how the company has evolved, so with our tenth anniversary this year we are aligning the brand and customer experience with the evolution of the business,” Director Michael White said.

“Posture relates to the physical way we hold our bodies, which worked when we were just supplying chairs, but now our work is so much more than that. It’s about the physical and wellbeing benefits of sustainable, well-planned workspace design and Nurture Workspace encompasses all of that. It just really embodies everything we are doing.”

The company’s diversification wasn’t just a strategic business decision but a response to growing demand from clients seeking to align their work environments with Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) goals and the increasing recognition of workplace wellbeing as a key factor in attracting and retaining talent.

“Over the past decade, we’ve learned that designing a workspace is about so much more than desks and chairs,” added Michael. “It’s about understanding how people work, what inspires them, and how their environment can improve their health, focus, and creativity.

“That is why we decided to increase our offering and introduce the new brand and so far, it has been very well received. Our clients, partners and staff all seem to have really bought into it and it has positioned us perfectly for the future.”

Nurture Workspace’s diversification into new markets has already seen the company win several new contracts and with more projects on the horizon, Michael is confident about the company’s future.

“We have a number of new projects in the pipeline which take us in a totally different direction to where we were a few years ago and we see this as being key to growing the business over the coming months and years.

“At the end of this financial year, we’re hoping turnover exceeds £500,000 and then next year, who knows. It’s a really exciting time for the business.”

Michael and his fellow directors received start-up support from the North East BIC when they set up the business back in 2015 and remain headquartered at its Sunderland business centre today.

“The BIC supported us in the very beginning when we were just a start-up, so they’ve been with us every step of the way,” he added.

“They have even given us business themselves, as well as helping facilitate introductions to other tenants who have become customers and even partners.

“Currently we have two units, one which acts as an office and one which provides us with storage space, but we are hoping to expand into one combined, larger unit this year if space allows.

“They really have been instrumental in our growth and we can’t thank them enough for all of their support.”

Paul McEldon OBE, chief executive of the BIC, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have supported Nurture Workspace on its journey from a small start-up to the fast-growing business it is today.

“Over the last decade, they’ve shown that a small North East business can compete with and win work from some of the world’s biggest names and with further expansion on the cards, we can’t wait to see what else the future holds for the business.”
